The aftermath.....

Well, the 3rd Annual Sauquoit Shopping Expo is in the books. It was a fun day, followed by a whirlwind unload and a trip across town to a soccer game. When I got home, everything was still right where I left it...

Now to get to work cleaning it up for my new club's first meeting on Tuesday! For anyone that didn't make the show here's a picture of the set up, and some of the goodies offered for sale. I have quite a bit of "inventory" left, so I'm setting up the display in my basement for a week or two - if you'd like to stop by and browse, just let me know (via email or facebook if you don't have my phone #) and we'll arrange a private shopping time :) I also plan to take some individual pics and put them on my Stamps Well With Others Facebook Page. Thanks to everyone who stopped by my table to say hi - it was nice to see some old friends and meet some new ones!

sympathy cards for craft show

Hi again! I've been spending all my free time getting ready for my annual craft show. For my local readers, it's this weekend, sat. the 20th from 10-4 at Orchard Hall. My card supply was a little low on Sympathy Cards, so I made these tonight to offer in my cards for sale bin. I think they turned out nice, yet they were fairly easy to make. Here's a very rough set up in my basement so you can see some of the goodies that I'll have at the show. I'll post more pics from the show off the real table and the actual items. Hope to see you at the show!

school is cool pencil made of rolos

Check out this cool "pencil" I made for my son's teacher! It uses a base of a package of Rolos candy. Just cover the candy with a piece of summer sun paper that was cut to 4.5 x 3.5 and then scored every .5 inches. Then I added a 3/4' x 3.5 piece of pink at the top for the eraser. The gold band is made using a gold paint pen. easy peasy and oh, so cute!

Whitesboro, NY Shoebox Swap card

This is the project that I brought as my shoebox project to the Whitesboro, NY gathering. For those of you not familar, a shoebox project is one where you pre-design and pre-cut all the materials for everyone in attendance to make your project. All the supplies then get packed up (usually is a box, sometimes even a shoebox) and brought to the venue for everyone to share projects. Hence, the term Shoebox project. Anywho..... This is a stairstep card and while it looks a bit complicated it really isn't. I had precut and scored all the card bases (there were boy and girl kit choices). The participants in the shoebox gathering just had to shade the ink, punch the decorative pieces and assemble the project. This idea is NOT my original idea. I first saw it here on Jackie Topa's blog. All the instructions for the card base cut and folds are there and possibly a video as well. Thank you Jackie Topa for sharing!

Whitesboro, NY shoebox swap 9/11/10

We had a GREAT time at the Whitesboro, NY gathering yesterday (9/11/10). Thanks to Nancy and Meg for being such good hostesses! The first picture I like to call Jesus Loves Me! This life sized statue was in the corner of the room the whole day and for anyone that knows me..... you know he was there to keep an eye on me so I didn't get too crazy, lol. Here is a group shot of the room from mine and Jesus' vantage point. There were 8 tables set up for our shoebox projects. We each had a list of the 30 shoebox projects and rotated around to the different tables until we had completed them all (or as many as we could before we had to pack up so mass could start upstairs)

Another room view. Yep, I appear taller in this pic.... I was standing on a chair :)
Here is a shot of some of the girls at the "after party" in the rubber room. After a little, shopping, we returned to my house to finish each other's shoebox projects, order some dinner, chat and laugh and as my husband put it this morning "just drink lots of water, lol". The girls also pumped out 100, yes 100! cards for the troops as the return home from duty. This is done under a program called Operation Welcome Home.

Here's a shot of some of the pile of the Operation Welcome Home cards. Thanks to Arlene for providing and pre-cutting all the materials.
It was another great day of stamping with friends. Can't wait to do it again!

Gettin' Twisted Swap Card

I've been at it again.... This is the swap I'll be bringing to the CNY Whitesboro Gathering tomorrow (9/11/10). You can see my other "contenders" in the posts below. I opted for this one as I've had this rubbernecker doggie for a while and never used it. He didn't come with the "drops", just the hydrant. His "drops" are water splashes from another set (Just so Hippy, I believe).
I created the grass with my watercolor pen and ink, stamped the grass tufts and the tree is from SU's Forest Friends Set. The clouds were made using my cloud template (love that thing). I also used my movers and shapers curly label die to cut the red mat so that my punched sentiment would fit inside. The die also gives a nice pierced look. I hope you can click on the image to see it larger and read the sentiment. If not, the front reads "Treat stressful situations like a dog"....

Inside reads: "If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away" :)

Gettin' Twisted again...

Here is another one of my "twisted/humor" swap possibilities that didn't make the cut. Actually, I made 17 of this one and then decided it just wasn't twisted enough...the girls expect more from me, lol. It features shoes/boots from various Stampin' Up! sets I have. The sentiment is not from Stampin' Up! Unfortunately, I can't remember it's maker...maybe hambo or rubbernecker? The card above was posted directly to my facebook, but not on my blog, so I thought I'd add it here too. I love twisted cards - they have inspired me to make cards again!

Gettin' Twisted

Next weekend several of us stampers from Central NY and surrounding areas are getting together for a shoebox swap. One of the swaps (the one that somehow I got chosen to oversee, lol) is the Twisted/Humor Swap. This is the first card idea I came up with. This one didn't end up making the cut... While I loved the humor of it, I just wasn't so happy with the visual appearance of the card.

Inside the card reads: It's your birthday, party your panties off!

Whoo Hoo! The Holiday Mini is finally here. Click on the picture above to see a PDF version of this great new mini. If you'd like your own copy and didn't receive one in the mail from me, just let me know and I'll be sure to get you one. I can't wait to use that new santa stamp that you see on the cover! There is also a new Big Shot Die that I can't wait to get my hands on... see the scallop border thing around the red box... yep, it's a die cut! It's gonna be great for my new scrapbooking club too!!!

Don't drink the water......

As many of you know, there are a bunch of stampers in the Central New York area, that gather frequently to swap and share shoebox projects. Apparently, at one of these gatherings a number of gals "drank the water" as this summer brought 4 new babies to our "family"! 3 boys and 1 girl have recently been welcomed into the CNY stampers brood. These are the cards I made for them. Congrats to Kris, Jenn, Kristen and Andrea on your beautiful new bundles of joy!

Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer we're having!

Stamp Camp Projects

Here's the projects we'll be doing at stamp camp tonight! Never heard of "Stamp Camp"? It's a fun night stamping with the girls where all the projects are designed, pre-cut and ready to go for you. All you have to do is show up (with your adhesive) and stamp and assemble your projects. They even come with envelopes! It usually takes about 2-3 hrs and all levels of stampers are welcome. The "old pros" are always willing to help the "newbies". Cost is $12. Please leave a comment on my facebook if you'd like me to add your name to my email list or watch my facebook page for upcoming "Camps". The first card features the eyelet border punch and the ribbon of hope stamp. This card was "cased" from splitcoast and features the owl punch and the brand new 2 3/8" scallop punch. It also uses some of the new soft subtles designer paper.

This is a cute little "beach tote". It's hard to see, but if you look closely, you'll see the pattern embossed onto the front panel, making it look like a weaved bag. We will even stamp tissue paper to match!

The last card is my favorite and uses a new stamp set called create a monster. You have the 3 basic monster shapes and tons of eyes, mouths and tenticles/hair to choose from to make your very own monster. Love fun stuff like this :)

Here's a picture of all the baskets with the individual projects. See...everything you need is right there for you all in one place! Give it a try - sign up for Stamp Camp!

Happy Birthday to my Dad!

Today is my dad's 69th birthday. Happy Birthday Dad (Yes, I know he doesn't read my blog!). Hopefully my mom or my sister will tell him that I gave him some love on my little piece of the web! Here's a picture of him doing one of his favorite things. He bought an old school bus and converted it into a "redneck" limo of sorts. He takes all sorts of people on tours of the wine country and the bus has been nickednamed the "fun bus" or the "drunk bus" around town. Where was he with this bus when I was a kid, lol?!? He is a great dad and I definately get my wit and my humor from him - so thanks alot dad, you sure have gotten me into alot of trouble, lol!

Here's the card I made for him. Kinda appropriate for him as he's a bigger wise-a$$ than I am! I'm' sure he'll chuckle! At work, we were getting rid of a bunch of these old fingerprint cards, so I snagged them to cut up for card fronts. I had the Crime Scene Kit stamps that were a perfect add-on. Cool, heh? The fingerprints were made by actually rolling my fingers in the ink - that was fun! Thanks for stopping in and if you see "Ike" wish him a Happy Birthday!

I only have eyes for you Baby!

I got my first order from the New Catalog today. Make a Monster was the first set I cracked open, I just think the little monsters are adorable. My husband reminded me during dinner tonight that our anniversary is tomorrow - ummmm, thought the MEN were supposed to forget those things - oops! The monster has lots of eyes stamped on him and the sentiment is computer generated. Happy Anniversary Dear!
