Just one flower!

Hey there! Even though it's almost tomorrow (already), I wanted to try to post something today.... I found an hour after working late and another hockey game (we won... go NH!) to participate in the Splitcoast limited supplies challenge for today. We were to use ONLY one flower stamp.
Perfect time to use the new level 1 From the Garden stamp. I always mess up when coloring this flower as I have a hard time 1. getting a good clear stamped image (especially on watercolor paper like used here) and 2. deciding which are leaves and which are petals. Well, I screwed this up when coloring it as the 2 small leaves on the right hand side I originally colored at petals, so I restamped and colored them, cut them out and cut the orange petals with my craft knife so I could tuck the leaves underneath. Once I did this, I dediced that the rest of the petals might look good cut out and curled up here and there - really pops off the card! I did the same with the flower center and added some stickles to that. Thanks for stopping by and if you've never tried I challenge..... I dare ya!!

25 square board

As many of my regulars know, I have this fun little thing called the 25 square board.... Ther are 25 squares (stamped with cute little things of course). At my classes, etc. I bring it out and the girls fight over which square to put their name in. For $1 they get 1 square on the board. When the board is filled up, I cut it up and draw 1 winner. The lucky winner gets a $25 product credit.

Well, I just cut up the last one. There were 2 square lingering about (after my DS bought one this morning), so I bought the last 2 and drew a name - Gayla is the lucky winner.... again Congrats Gayla!

If you'd like to take part in the 25 square board, you don't need to attend classes/clubs, just let me know and get me your $ and I'll add your name to the best squares... wink, wink!

ANOTHER snowday!

I wanted to give you a little before and after, but since my old laptop crashed (litterally to the ground about a year ago), I still have not gotten all my old pictures off, so the before will be posted around June! I was too lazy to get all dressed and get my boots full of snow taking a picgture, so this one is with the zoom from my bathroom window :) If you click on the picture you can see our hopes for golf are looking pretty dismal for the near future, the flag is almost burried!

The kids have a snow day today and I have to go to work, so I thought I'd share with all of my non Central New Yorks readers a little fluffy white stuff! Thanks for stopping by in this weather:)

Welcome Otis!

My First Onesie Card!

My husband's brother Gary and his Wife Megan just had their 3rd child. They live in Australia though - so we don't get to see them. They met while Megan was here teaching sailing, so I wanted to use the sailboat from the new SU set Nursery Necessities. This is my first onesie card made using Lauren Meader's tutorial found here.

The sailboat is stamped in brocade blue on white, then stamped again in certainly celery on a 2nd piece of white. without reinking I stamped it again onto the patterned piece so I could have a template to cut the large sail out. The celery sail and the patterned sail are then glued onto the brocade image and the whole thing is cut out. In hindsight, I should have just stamped the blue boat directly onto the card.... duh! Anyone want to make one of these at a stamp camp?

Headed to the NY State Championships!

They did it!! My son's hockey team won the sectional title this morning - well, they actually won their spot yesterday as they were the only team undefeated in the tourney, but they had to play the final game at 7 am this morning. They are in "rink clothes" and not uniforms because they had to wait through the game following theirs for the trophy presentation. Very funny - they all ran out onto the ice like they had their skates on and they were slipping and sliding all over the place forgetting that ice is slippery! They will be heading to Clifton Park for the New York State Squirt Hockey Championships in March. This is quite a big deal as New Hartford has not sent a squirt team to States since 1986-87.... holy crap - that's the year I gradutated from high school! They are a great bunch of kids and they've worked really hard all year for this. See all those early mornings traveling across the state for hockey games does pay off :)

Congrats NH Squirt Travel Team!!

Tart & Tangy CRAZED!!

I just can't put these fun little stamps down! These are coaster "easel back" picture frames. They can also be done with just a nice sentiment on them, or a calender or a post it pad, or just about anything. The backgroung paper is from the summer picnic pack that matches the tart & tangy stamp set.

Tart & Tangy Thanks

Here's a card I made last night using some tart & tangy class supplies. Things to note:

  • The sentiment on the ribbon is a rub-on!!! How cool is that?!?

  • The ribbon slider (flower) is from the new hodgepodge hardware kit and is filled with red stickles to make it really special.

  • The middle "flower" is from the new SAB stamp set So Many Scallops, then punched with the scallop punch.

  • The scallop border is made with the corner rounder (3/16 retired one) with the guard off, then the holes punched were with the crop a dile.
And here's the Hodgepodge ribbon slidder before & after

LETS GO NEW HARTFORD!

Okay... a little non-stamping stuff!

Here's the sign my son made to take to his sectional games this weekend. Team Spirit at it's best!

And here's a proud hockey mom moment - DS #1 in Action (he's the one with the red helmet)

Go New Hartford Squirt Hockey!!

Wild Wasabi Special Paper Offer

This was announced a couple of days ago and does not into effect until March 1st (along with the spring mini), but I wanted to get it out to you...

Stampin' Up! has announced that anyone can purchase a special-offer Wild Wasabi card stock pack for only $3.95.

  • The pack includes 16 sheets of 4-1/2" x 11-1/2" Wild Wasabi textured card stock that has been scored at 1-1/8" and 5-5/8".

  • This special product offer is the result of a miscalculation in cutting and scoring on one batch of Wild Wasabi textured card stock for the Holiday Glitz promotion; while this paper did not meet specifications for the Holiday Glitz kits, it is excellent for creating other fun and exciting projects (click here to see flyers for several great ideas).
If anyone wants to take advantage of this great price and try some textured card stock, just send me an email and we'll get 'r done on March 1!

Look Ma - no stamps!!

Who knew you could make a cute card in about 10 minutes from a pile of paper and rub-on's!
My friend Jenn came over to visit for awhile today and we thought it would be fun to play with some of the new rub-on's on a card. We had a great time catching up and playing around with some new things.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wish DS #1 luck tomorrow in the first of his 3 sectional games!

Forget Milk.... Got Tequila?

No School this week... means nothing gets done in my stamp room... and random thoughts of alcohol:) I didn't get a chance to create anything new today, but I did make these cute little tin magnets last night. I'm playing around coming up with ideas for my upcoming Tart & Tangy Stamp Camp.... Watch your emails and the blog for more info soon!

I just love this little set and see sooooooo many possibilities.

Instead of stamping oranges (see scratch 'n sniff card below), I used certainly celery and green galore and made limes this time!

The lime is covered in stickles and really shines. "Got Tequila" is computer generated, then punched with the 1 3/8" circle punch and popped on a green galore circle. The shaker "stuff" is salt - how fun is that?

What do ya think?!?

More Rub On Fun!

Here's what I spent my morning doing instead of folding laundry!

The pic on the left is the whole unit and the pic on the right is a close up of the beeeee-u-tiful rub on's!

I just LOVE this 5 drawer snapper keeper thingy. It was one of the best bday presents ever - thanks Sue and Amy! When I have a demo to do, I pull the whole drawer and go! If you look closely, you'll see that there are 2 drawers ready for wednesday's demo.

Apples anyone?

Another new Mini Pre-Order set. This one is called for father and has this main image, a cute little puppy resting his head on a workboot, a wooden toolbox full of tools and the sentiment "May happiness touch your life today as you have so often touched the lives of others".

Which one of today's 3 do you like the best?

Scratch N Sniff Card

Are you tempted to scratch your computer screen to see if it REALLY smells like oranges?!? Does it... I know you tried :)
This is a 4 x 4 card using the NEW set Tart and Tangy from the upcoming Mini. This set is cute, cute, cute... contains 4 images - an orange/lime, cherries, an apple and a strawberry.
To get a scratch n sniff card, you mix 1 part NO SUGAR cool-aid, jello, cocoa powder, etc with 1 1/2 parts clear embossing powder. I didn't have craft ink in apricot appeal and only orange, so I used classic ink first (using the rock N roll technique - more on this later), then I overstamped with versamark and then I hit it with my embossing buddy and the special smelling mix and embossed with the heat tool. Cool Beans...er, oranges!
Other sets used: Sprinkles and Celebrate everything.
Rock N Roll Technique: Ink up image using lighter shade (apricot appeal here) then roll the edges of the inked stamp into the darker ink (only orange here). Lets practice... hold you hand over the keyboard with you pointer finger over the "h" - now roll your wrist so your finger hovers over the y, 7, 8, i, l, comma, m and back to "h"..... see easy, huh? Now go make something for me to sniff at the next stamp camp:)

My New Friend Sassy Suzie

Here's a quick (well it should have been quick) card using Sassie Suzie from the New Occassions Mini from Stampin' Up! This mini is currently being mailed to some of you. If you don't receive one in the mail within the next week, I have extra copies.

One of the best perks of being a Demo is that we get to pre-order from catalogs so we can "play" prior to the catalog going into effect (March 1, 2008). Click here for more info on the special if you sign up to be a demo during Sale-a-Bration. This is one of 3 sets from the mini that I pre-ordered.... yeah me! I hope to make some more stuff with the other two sets soon so I can give you a glimpse of what's to come! Do ya love her?

INSTALLING A HUSBAND 1.0

Some hints and tips on installing new software....

INSTALLING A HUSBAND 1.0

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance -- particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5 and then installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0, and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do?
Signed, Desperate

---------------- --------------------------------------

Dear Desperate:

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an Operating System. Please enter the command: 'I Thought You Loved Me.exe' and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.

If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, over-use of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 (it runs a virus in t he background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources). Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Food 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck,
Tech Support at INSTALLING A HUSBAND

You're Delightful!

I'm at work today, and have DIVA club meeting tonight, so I can't make anything new to show you. This is a card that's been posted in my splitcoast gallery. If you've never checked out splitcoast - you must! But you'll have to sign an agreement not to think less of me when you see where I get all my inspiration :)
This was my DH's valentines card - which I thought was funny since a skunk sprayed our house on valentines morning!

Can you say Procrastinate?

Well, I couldn't put it off any longer. I sent the kids to school this morning with no valentines telling them that we (mommy and dadddy) wanted to give them to them together - which by the way I'm sure they figured out won't happen as I head to work just as Chris gets out of work today:) Anyway - I was just gonna stick some money in a card (handmade of course), but I decided that I had about 30 minutes to spare this morning so I'd make them these little pop top treat cans to stuff some cash into. I always make them for their friends, but I've never made them for my own kids! They have cash, a little snoopy valentine and some kisses.... Happy Valentines Day to you and your sweeties:)

Gotta LOVE those Rub-On's

I just LOVE the new rub-on's from Stampin' Up! I picked up this oversized (I know it looks rather small in in the picture) votive from Wally World yesterday to see how the rub-on's would take to glass. Worked like a charm! This project took all of 3 mintues and cost a whopping 97 cents!! I will most likely fill this with some candies and give to someone worthy!

The rub-ons shown here are the old olive ones from the SAB catalog... can't beat that deal. With the SAB rub-on's you get 4 sheets (1 each of white, black, choc chip and old olive)

Technique Cards for DIVA clubbers

Here's a look at the technique cards we do as part of DIVA Club. My Diva's (as they voted to call themselves) each signed an agreement to spend $15 per month for 10 months. Everyone takes a turn playing "hostess". When it is their hostess month they get:

--hostess benefits according to the stampin' up! benefits chart

--20% of their merchandise total

--To choose the 2 techniques that we will learn that month.

--To bring the snack/drink for the others (AND we meet at my house so they don't have to clean theirs)

Everyone gets a technique card like the ones shown above with the directions printed on one side and during the club meeting, we all make the sample to adhere to the back of the card. These cards are printed on a different color cardstock each month so that after 6 months, you have a sampler ring of that color family (see soft subtles above).

Sounds like fun, huh? I am taking spots for a 2nd club! If you're interested, let me know and when I get 10 members (unless everyone wants to commit to spend more $ - then we'll need less members), we can start a 2nd club and you can call yourselves whatever you'd like!

Day 2!

Hi there,

Still playing around a bit with this bloggin' stuff! Actually, I won't even give the blog address out until I get a little better at it, but it's fun just to see posts! I'm excited to have DIVA club meet again this month after 2 months off. It's our first club since the new catalog came out! We'll be learning 2 new techniques: Shaker Cards and the Reflection Technique. After we complete our technique cards (busniess card sized samples for our color cardstock rings), we'll make a complete shaker card... the one posted below! If you are not a member of the DIVA club and would like more info on it, send me an email and I'll tell ya all about it! Guests are welcome to attend for free with a $15 order or for a fee of $5. (Fee covers materials for the full sized card and learning the technique).

I'm gonna Blog!

Hey,

I can't believe it myself...... I'm gonna try this blogging thing! Can't wait to share my stamping creations with you all. Please bear with me as I try to figure this stuff out and leave me a comment to let me know what you'd like me to blog about!

Here's a picture of a shaker card we'll be doing friday night for Diva Club. (just wanna see if this works)...
